Are Engagement Rings Conditional Presents?

A DC lawyer dropped $100,000 on an engagement ring – but when the relationship fizzled

– the woman kept the ring. She says it was a gift – so it belongs to her. He claims it was a “conditional” present given in good faith that they’ll spend the rest of their lives in holy matrimony.

Now he’s suing her to get it back.

Is it right for a woman to keep the ring?

Should it be returned if they don’t end up sealing the deal?  What do you want with an engagement ring from a guy you are no longer with?
