What are some useless facts you’ve learned over the years at work?

From fitting couches into odd places, the difference between male and female rabbits and what happens to cakes that aren’t bought at bakeries — people have retained a whole mess of random information because of jobs they’ve held.

I have had so many jobs in my life, its comical. I was a teacher, a recruiter for the government, a nanny, and I even worked as a 911 dispatcher. The amount of useless knowledge trapped in my head is astonishing, to be honest. I can remember just about every single penal code in California as well as police “10 codes”. Things like a 10-7 (out of service) or a 10-20 (what’s your location). Why I have the need for those in my head is WAY beyond me, but here we are.

I also have the uncanny ability to name a song, USUALLY by the beginning of it OR the end of it! The skill is ingrained in my brain because of my job as a dj. I have to know the beginnings and ends of songs so I have enough time to talk, if needed. Weird talent I learned from work.

So what are  your odd skills you picked up from work?
