So peanuts in coke is a thing….and we need to talk about it…

I have spent the last 4, almost 5 years in the South. I lived in rural Georgia between two major cities (Atlanta and Macon) and I saw some….interesting things to say the least. Its a whole different vibe out there.

As a native Californian, what struck me the most, was the eating habits of many southerners. Now, before I go on, this is not a bash on the south. I liked it just fine. For the most part, the food was pretty spectacular. From the bbq to the southern staples like grits with cheese to fried green tomatoes.

However, this….THIS is just……odd, yeah? People in the south put salted peanuts in their…COKE!!! (Side note: if you just ask for a coke in the south, they will ask you what kind. All soda is coke there. You have to specify Sprite, root beer, 7 up or I don’t know….COKE!!!) Anyway….

There is something of a delicacy with this concoction out there in that its the trifecta. Sweet, salty, savory.

This California girl could NOT bring herself to try it. I admit, I am a pretty picky eater so maybe I’m not the best compass for this, but would you try it? What is the “weirdest” combo of food you love?
