Do Kids Still Get Summer Jobs?

Summer is almost here. So kids across the nation will be hitting the streets trying to earn that paper….or will they?

Do kids still get summer jobs?  Not our neighbors children.  Their 15 and 17 year old plan on hangin’ out at the house this summer.  These kids’ plan to:

  • sit at home on SnapChat
  • play xBox
  • watch YouTube videos

I find this a little disconcerting.  I was makin’ scratch from the day my dad taught me how to start the lawn mower.  I hit up every senior citizen in our neighbor and was mowing their lawns every summer until I graduated. At one point I was mowing 14 lawns. I even kept this side hustle goin’ when I was in high school and had proper summer jobs in Construction and at the Car Wash.

How did you make money when you were a kid?  Do kids these days get summer jobs?
