Thoughts From an Asparagus Festival Newbie

So being new to the area – I attended my first ever San Joaquin Asparagus Festival.  I’ve been given mixed reviews of the Asparagus Fest from the people I’ve met since relocating here.  But after further review…It ROCKED!

It was loads of fun.  I enjoyed every aspect of it – the food – the midway rides – the food – the entertainment – and the food!  I feel like I already mention the food?

Asparagus is my favorite vegetable of all time – even before the festival.  Having been forced to eat it as a child – I’ve grown to love it.  But I didn’t realize just how versatile asparagus is.  They had asparagus tacos, asparagus salad, asparagus burritos, bacon wrapped asparagus, Asparagus nachos, asparagus ice cream, asparagus quesadillas and the ever-popular deep fried asparagus topped with grated Parmesan cheese. I mean come on – it’s hard to beat fried stuff with cheese!

And don’t get me started on the entertainment.  Little Texas crushed it – Morgan Wallen was off the hook!

It was also fantastic to see so many of the Kat Country 103 faithful in attendance.  We love it when you come by the booth, hang out and say, “Hi.”

If I had one complaint – it’s with the attendees.  There were trash receptacles EVERYWHERE.  Absolute no need to throw your trash on the grown.  Other than that, The Asparagus Fest was brilliant!

Now what other vegetable can we throw a festival for?  Cauliflower?  I’m in.

Or I’ll just hang back and wait for the San Joaquin Asparagus Festival 2019!
