A couple of unruly kids can drive a parent nuts – and if there are other people around it’s even worse!

At the weekend we watched a woman struggle to get her two kids in check.  These kids were relentless. No matter what she said or did – they wouldn’t stop.

It made me think of what my mother used to do to us if we were acting up.  She would simply say:

If you keep this up – I’m calling the police.  They’re going to take one of your away.  FOREVER.  So instead of arguing – decide which of you is going to go.

It worked EVERY SINGLE TIME!  The thought of being dragged away from our family for the rest of our lives was always enough to make my sister and I straighten up and fly right.

When I look back at the lies/tactics/techniques my Momma used to get us to straighten up – I’m astonished we fell for it.  I wonder if parents nowadays use the same lies as their parents did and get similar results.  Perhaps parents of today have developed a whole different tack.  How do you get the lil’ ones to stop acting up?
