Static Cling Sucks When You’re Overweight

Like many people I’m fighting the battle of the bulge. 2 years ago I weighed 210 lbs and I’m 6’2″ and pretty much everything fit. I could even wear my belt when I was driving without the belt buckle cutting into the bottom of my stomach because I hardly had any belly fat. Once I got off of my workout regimen I started gaining weight and I’m back up to 240 lbs. Ugh.

When you’re in shape, clothes with static cling can be uncomfortable to wear but at least they don’t make you look bad. Now that I’m carrying extra weight though it’s embarrassing. If you’re a people watcher like me you notice all kinds of people wearing skin tight clothes they have no business wearing and snicker to yourself. You think “I may be overweight but at least I know how to dress myself respectfully and try to accentuate my body as best I can”. So it really sucks when you forget to use dryer sheets like I did the other day (as evidenced by the photo above) and your t-shirt hugs your non-baby bump like body paint. A loose fitting t-shirt, while not exactly slimming, at least is comfortable and while it’s not a fashion statement it doesn’t scream “HEY, LOOK AT MY BELLY!”
